If you've made it all the way through the long, cold winter without a holiday, congratulations! But don't you think it's time to reward yourself with some sun, sea, sand, and sightseeing? March is a great time for a getaway. Perched proudly between February’s half-term and the Easter holidays, it offers excellent value for money.
The biggest downside to travelling in March is that much of Europe is still fairly chilly and even slightly farther-flung hotspots like Marmaris in Turkey and Tunis in Tunisia rarely exceed the high teens.
Fortunately, the Flexicover team is here to help. Read on for its top five locations to visit for hot weather this March.

Las Vegas, US
If your ideal trip to Sin City involves venturing no further than the nearest roulette table then there's no bad time of year to visit. But if you fancy taking a break from the casinos every now and then to soak up some sun, March is the perfect time. Temperatures reach an average peak of around 22C at this time of year - hot enough to take a dip in your hotel pool or enjoy a stroll along the Strip, but far more comfortable than the scorching mid-summer, when highs can exceed 40C. Plus you'll get an average of ten hours of sunshine a day and a paltry 11mm of rainfall throughout the month. So, stick or twist?

Costa Adeje, Tenerife
Looking for something a little closer to home? Southern Tenerife enjoys average high temperatures of 22C throughout March, with only one day of rainfall - and it's only a 4.5-hour flight from London. And if you’re after a buzzing destination packed with boutiques, upscale hotels and even a chance to spot whales and dolphins, head for the island’s Costa Adeje. There are plenty of activities on offer if you can drag yourself away from the sun lounger for a day or two. Brave the 28 metre vertical drop slide at Siam Water Park to set the pulse racing, or head to Jungle Park to watch the impressive exotic bird shows. Better still, it’s not too hard on the old wallet either.

Koh Yao Noi, Thailand
March is right at the start of Thailand's hot season, making it a perfect time to visit the paradise island of Koh Yao Noi. Nestled in the Andaman Sea between the party hotspot of Phuket and the adventure capital of Krabi, temperatures in March reach an average high of 34C, with around six days of rain expected throughout the month. If you're hoping to dance the night away at one of Thailand's famous Full Moon Parties, Koh Yao Noi isn't for you. But if your idea of bliss is a secluded, palm-fringed beach and a chance to fall asleep to the sound of chirping crickets rather than pounding bass, look no further.

Essaouira, Morocco
Think of Morocco and you'll probably picture the teeming bazaars of Marrakesh, or perhaps the hotel-packed coastal resort of Agadir. However, Essaouira is a wonderful alternative. Visit this fascinating port city in March and you'll enjoy average daily highs of 20C, with just three days of rainfall during the month. It still has the feel of a ‘proper’ Moroccan city, which means street food and bustling souk aplenty, but you'll also get to enjoy the glorious beaches along the Atlantic coastline. If you're feeling adventurous, it's a great spot for surfing and windsurfing, or otherwise you can while away an afternoon with a leisurely stroll along the 18th-century seafront ramparts.

Galley Bay, Antigua
For guaranteed sun and sultry weather, the Caribbean is hard to beat at any time of year. Head to the serene island of Antigua in March to unwind in average high temperatures of 28C. While the whole island is a tropical paradise, we recommend Galley Bay, whose beach is arguably the best on Antigua's stunning west coast. This 600-yard stretch of soft white sand, hugged by palm forests on one side and clear turquoise waters on the other, is our idea of heaven. It's close enough to the capital, St John's, to be easily accessible, but remote enough that you'll be free from the cruise ship crowds that arrive on the island each day. Be sure to enjoy the local seafood, washed down with a rum punch or two.
Wherever you plan on heading to this year it’s good to know that Flexicover Travel Insurance is committed to providing you with the highest level of protection to ensure you are safe and secure 24 hours a day when away.
