Let’s face it, English weather leaves a lot to be desired for most of the year. We could all use a little Vitamin D to boost our energy levels and some outdoor heat to warm our bones.
Are you starting to have sun-withdrawals? The Flexicover team has picked out some great locations if you’re looking for a sunny holiday at any point during the year. Check out our list of toasty destinations all year round.
Abu Dhabi, UAE

An all-year destination if ever there was one, the dry desert heat of Abu Dhabi can be stifling in its hottest season, there’s near-guaranteed sun every day – just what’s needed to enjoy its sandy beaches and fabulous outdoor spaces. But don’t forget to bring a jacket for the cooler evening climes, as there’s plenty of entertainment to keep visitors out every night. The restaurants alone are worth checking out, especially for their ‘night brunch’: an evening version of our favourite meal.
Phuket, Thailand

Another option is to head East to the T-shirt weather of Thailand. With blazing sun and warm temperatures on the cards for the whole month, it’s a fab February destination. The Andaman Sea, off the coast of Phuket, is a bath water-warm 29C. If that sounds inviting, there’s plenty of aqua activities available for visitors, not least because of the colourful marine life in the area. Choose between snorkelling, diving, kayaking, surfing, kite surfing or stand-up paddle boarding – just don’t forget the waterproof sun lotion!
Orlando, USA

What better way to spend a holiday than taking the kids to one of the many theme parks in the Sunshine State of Florida. There’s something in it for parents too: it’s quieter, hotels offer off-peak prices, and the average temperature is a nice 23C (though expect the odd shower too).
Lanzarote, Spain

A short-haul destination providing warmth, though we’ll have to jet southwards to the Canary Islands to find it. In Lanzarote, the average temperature throughout the year is a pleasing 17C (24 in the summer). The most easterly of the Islands, it’s sheltered from the Atlantic breeze and first in line for the dry desert winds from North Africa, making it one of the better locations for winter warmth. Stay on the south side of the island – for example the popular resort town of Playa Blanca – to catch the most sun.
Cape Verde

Further south from the Canary Islands, conditions are better still in Cape Verde. With a fascinating blend of Portuguese and African culture, plus a broad range of resorts from no-frills to all-inclusives, it’s a destination worth investigating any time of the year. The popular island of Sal has an average temperature of around 26C all year-round, and makes it a perfect destination if you're looking to escape the cold months in England.
